Readers: Beware of Identity Theft
Good afternoon, Lila Keim here.
Just a few days ago, I sat down and wrote about identity theft and the serious affects of the Epsilon data breach a few weeks ago. I shared a personal experience my husband, Bob, and I had only weeks prior to the data breech to show the realities of the topic. You can read the post here.
The criminals responsible for the most recent episode are professionals and are known for mimicking banks, credit card companies, department stores and any other company to whom you have shared your personal information (i.e. email, phone number, etc). They are using the minimal information you provided to trick you into providing your social security number, passwords, credit card information and more.
It is our hope that anyone reading this post will take the topic of fraud seriously and be at least suspicious about any requests for your personal information.
Thank you.
